Art project: Edible Australia
Here’s a fun new project I’ve decided to try. I found this map of regional French food on the Internet recently (I haven’t been able to track the source), and wondered what something similar would look like, created for Australia. We have such a wonderful, diverse food culture in this country, and it would be so lovely to celebrate it!
If your city, town or even street has a signature dish, food or drink, can you tell me about it? I’m thinking of laminations from Toowoomba, prawns from Ballina, and dim sims from the South Melbourne Market. What else??
When I have enough cities and towns to fill the map, I plan to paint a regional food map for Australia. If it’s thorough and pretty enough, I’ll turn it into a print or tea-towel, or something else fun.
